In honour of Prince turning 55 on June 7th, Nuv began attempting to compile a list of his 55 best songs. When he got down to 70, it became apparent that culling this list further was going to be harder, and take a lot longer than he thought. But here we are, a delirious Nuv having done exactly what the first song title suggests, and (rather than just typing out the list) producing an infographic based on the back cover of Purple Rain, with each song represented by its own typography, meant to capture the vibe of the song. If you’re a fan, everyone of these should be in your rotation, period.
Anyway, in no particular order beyond leading off with all 9 tracks from Purple Rain, R2AK proudly presents the 55 most slammin’ cuts in the little purple guy’s catalog. He may not celebrate his birthday anymore, but we sure can! Enough! Enjoy already, damn!
